20 Year Reunion

My 20 year class reunion has come and gone. It was a sweet weekend. I only stuck my foot in my mouth a couple of times. I hope we get together again soon.

We gathered for a tailgate party before the homecoming game on Friday night. Our class reunion was held at The Gym on Saturday night. None of it was fancy, but it was all very nice just the same. We had a good turn out for both gatherings. Between the two, we had 35 classmates that showed.

Everyone kept thanking me for all the work I did. I did nothing, really. I found our classmates, worked up invitations to both events, made sure everyone was invited (well, the 79 classmates I found), got some photos from the school, made a playlist of music from the 80's, and my sweet husband made some stands to hold the old photos for centerpieces. I don't think of any of it as work. Getting everyone together was simply a mission. The invitations were fun...love photoshop. I mowed the grass to the playlist on Tuesday :) And I will reuse those centerpieces for future family events. It was all win-win for me!

I was so tickled to spend time with my friend, Emily. I think that was the highlight of Friday night.

The Bad

We had such high expectations for this trip. We planned this vacation for at least six months. How did it go wrong? Everything at the resort looked so clean and we just decided to have fun. And we did Friday afternoon, Saturday night through Sunday morning. Lee spent most of Sunday in the room. I went on down to the pool and hung out with the Ohio girls because we thought it was just too much tequila the night before. Puerto Vallarta is supposed to have the best water in Mexico. I was actually brushing my teeth with tap water until I discovered he was sick. He was using bottled water, until he found out I was using tap. I don't know if that was it. We didn't ingest the water, but we did have ice in our drinks. Even after he got sick, we were still ordering him Sprite and Diet Coke, served in a glass and it had ice in it. Which may explain why he was unable to get to feeling better.

Since he stayed in the room all day, they didn't get to spray for sand fleas, which we didn't know was an issue. Until Sunday night. They were all over the bed. They wouldn't do anything about it, until I complained to the concierge the next day. I took a picture of the biting little monsters and blew it up for them. That got their attention. We covered ourselves in OFF just so we could sleep that night. I guess they kept the room sprayed after that because they were gone. Insecticide....so sexy. The beach peddlers were pests, too. We couldn't leave the resort to walk the beach without having the all around you, trying to get you to buy their jewelry and dresses. It all looked alike to me. I had decided that if I came across something unique, I'd like to buy it, but sometimes I would buy something to get them to leave me alone. Not so relaxing.

I'm so glad to be home. We'll still travel, but the third world country adventures are over. Puerto Vallarta is supposed to be the Beverly Hills of Mexico. No wonder they want to come here to live. Everyone is poor and I didn't feel good about being a spoiled tourist. It was a really bad experience....or maybe not because I was so glad to be coming home to our country and thankful to be an American.

That's A Huge Ass!

....and a ridiculously large hat that everyone loves! Hanging out at the Night of the Iguana set/ruins. There were some fishermen fishing with plastic bottles. They were smoking weed when we walked up. Not in front of us, but you could smell it. This afternoon, Lee was asked if he wanted marijuana as he was stepping into the cab in the el towno. Made him a little weary about the ride back to the resort.

Wish you were here

In beautiful Mexico! Didn't sleep Thursday night because I was so excited. So getting up at 4:30 am wasn't difficult, but staying awake required lots of caffeine throughout the day until we got our drink on last night. We crashed pretty early last night. Slept like a baby, drooled on my pillow :)

Didn't take any pics worth posting in the planes or airports. We haven't flown since 2000. I forgot how bad I hated take off, then put me in a plane that has two seats on one side and one across the aisle....tiny and I was scared. I didn't even hesitate, I found myself praying. Another thing I haven't done in years. I don't ask for much, don't need much from God, but I got my religion back yesterday. Holy crap! I looked out that window at 6:30 am, and I thought for sure I was going to die. How in the heck is this hunk of metal going to get us to Houston? It did. I teared up a little upon landing safely. Funny! Our pilot did the Quagmire uhh pause thing before takeoff :) That was the highlight of the flying experience, then we flew.

This is our lovely room. It has a living room in the front that has a loveseat with a trundle bed. It's very nice but we won't be using the area at all. The bathroom in very nice...looks like Robin and Eric's new bathroom. I'm not going to post a bunch of boring pictures of the suite...it looks just like the photos Barcelo has on their website.

Here's a picture of my huge, white ass looking out at the beach. Don't expect it to get any smaller with the food they have here, but maybe it will be tan in later photos.

The VIP lounge is super cool. They have an expresso machine, all the liquor, and WiFi. They have computers for folks that don't have laptops, but I'm glad we brought ours because their keys are strange. Hitting the beach today, think Lee's already drunk. He made our expresso Irish and has already had a couple of cocktails. He is very chatty :) Here are some sweet puppies that asked were on the beach begging for table scraps while we ate last night.

Beunos Dias, y'all!

MINDY IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!

I was at my wits end last week when I finally took her to the vet. She is peeing everywhere. I put her outside to do her business, then she comes in and pees. I don't think she knows what is going on anymore. I had just about decided that she needed to live on the front porch in a doggy igloo. After her examination the doctor gave me hope that the problem could be taken care of with a pill. Well, I don't have to tell you how excited I was. It made paying the bill seem worth it. He prescribed her a pill to be taken twice a day for incontinence and a vitamin because he said she was a little anemic. So far the only change I've seen is that the pee puddles aren't quite so big. They are like half the size they were. And she had just began to poop in the house, now she does it daily and even pooped on the porch just short of her ramp! I'm sure it's all down hill from here. I used to worry about losing her. I cried and cried when she got cancer a few years ago. Now I just hope I don't end up wishing she would just pass on. That's an awful thing for me to think. She's been a good dog and we've loved each other so much.
